The question of how to get our new arrival from the Rhineland to our Bavarian “ converted cow barn ” was quickly settled. Who would want to drag out the enclosed trailer when there’s a chance to cruise down the highway in the sunshine in the Alpina B6 3.5—that magnificent 6-cylinder in its sleek E30 body?

In November 1986, *Auto Motor & Sport* wrote: “There is no doubt whatsoever that the ‘joy of driving’ once championed by BMW takes on a whole new dimension here.”
We agree. Not because it’s better or worse than the 318is, 325i, or M3 Sport Evo, but because it’s so wonderfully different. And because it follows in the tradition of the B8 4.6, B10 BiTurbos, B7 Turbo S, and B12 5.7 with its engine, which so wonderfully breaks the mold of the (model) lineup.

Anyone who treats themselves to the #204 of the 219 Alpina B6 3.5s ever built should be prepared for spontaneous expressions of admiration from other drivers.
