They still exist—those “someday I’ve got to have one of those myself” stories. They usually start in the neighbor’s driveway or at the local car dealer’s showroom.
The story behind this Porsche Cayman GT4 begins in Weissach, at the Porsche Development Center. On this “legendary grounds,” as the Porsche Newsroom calls it, the car’s last owner was a student working at the factory at the time and had the unique pleasure of becoming part of a brilliant idea that, a few years later, would be on display at Porsche Centers as the Porsche Cayman GT4.
Since the development of the Porsche Cayman GT4 more than ten years ago still involved lift stands, engineers with ROZ98 coursing through their veins, and secret test laps on the company’s own test track, our student intern was certain: if it’s a Porsche, it has to be a Cayman GT4.

And anyone who has ever had the pleasure of driving a Porsche Cayman GT4 from the 981 series knows why these cars are sold only by unemotional speculators or former factory trainees with young families and plans to build a house.

This Porsche Cayman GT4 has been in the hands of the aforementioned former Porsche factory student since March 2017, where it has always served as a second car for special occasions.
The Porsche 981 Cayman GT4 dates back to the pre-OPF era and captivates everyone petrolhead with its unmistakable sound. Gears are, of course, shifted manually, and while the bucket seat may look more radical and offer more support on the final stretch between the airfield and Schwedenkreuz, the “P07 Adaptive Sports Seat Plus” installed here is more comfortable for long drives and can be adjusted more precisely.
