A gasoline-powered BMW 5 Series from the E60/61 model line. Back in 2005, I talked my head off trying to sell one as a pre-owned demo car. Dark blue, black interior, no M Sport package, equipped in a typically understated Northern German style. But that engine—the 530i with 258PS. World-class. A BMW straight-six at its very finest, with a silky-smooth running and such consistent power delivery. Even if you’re all out there riding the torque wave in your diesels, I had three months of pure joy.

For the BMW 530i shown here—fully loaded with every option and the Individual Package 1—I would have willingly worked Saturday shifts for at least a year back then.
And on top of that, it even had SMG—Transmission. I’ve got a few stories to go along with that, but I don’t want to bore anyone. It works great, both then and now, if you know how to handle it—despite all the forum and bar-table chatter.
