After 18 years of development, the GTS served as a fitting culmination—one that had matured to perfection. Even today, 30 years after production ended, the Porsche 928 GTS continues to impress both onlookers and, of course, its drivers. Gran Turismo Sport—abbreviated to GTS for simplicity’s sake—couldn’t be a more fitting name for a Porsche built for fast, long-distance driving.

The model shown here, with its 5-speed “manual transmission ,” is one of the rarer examples; just under a quarter of the 2,800 GTS models ever built were delivered with three pedals and first gear at the bottom. An “extra” (models with manual and automatic transmissions each cost DM 164,600 in 1992) that has proven to be a good decision today, as the Transmission , and V8 harmonize perfectly with one another.

A look under the hood or at the equipment list of this Porsche 928 GTS transforms a rare model into an ultra-rare “promotional model 928”: this special edition was produced in a limited run of 66 units for the German market during the 1994 model year. In addition to an electric sunroof, the Radio Bremen RCM 43 (included with the vehicle), and a generous selection of additional leather in the interior, all promotional models featured the “X38 front fender flares with 8x17 Cup II” option. The latter is recognizable by the stamped “38” on the fender and a slightly wider design.

There were two preconfigured color combinations to choose from: adventure green (K6) with cedar green leather (PX) or, as shown here, iris blue (D3) with classic gray leather (TF). According to unconfirmed sources, only 4 out of 66 units were produced with a " manual transmission ."

This iris-blue Porsche 928 GTS was delivered in 1994 at the Frankfurt Motor Show ( Porsche Zentrum ) to the owner of a well-known German herbal liqueur manufacturer. Most recently in its fourth ownership—all of which took place in Germany and is documented in the attached “ vehicle title ” and the vehicle registration certificate—the Porsche 928 GTS was serviced exclusively at German Porsche Centers (see below).

Here are some highlights of this Porsche 928 GTS's features:

  • 139/340 Heated Seats (Left/Right)
