A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity—BMW 3.0 CSL lightweight coupe in Polaris Metallic—a genuine “BATMOBIL ”—one of only 110 vehicles produced in the penultimate 3.0 CSL series—chassis number 2275450
- Verifiably first-hand (we purchased and picked up the car directly from the original owner in May 2011—who personally took delivery of the car as a new vehicle from BMW in Munich in April 1974)
- accident-free
- Original 145,500 km
- Of course, "matching numbers"
The vehicle (body and mechanical components) was carefully and meticulously restored and has been driven just under 150 km since its completion in August 2014. It is in condition virtually identical to that of a new car. The entire interior is still original and untouched and, thanks to the excellent care taken by the first owner, is also in absolutely outstanding condition with a beautiful patina.
The buyer will receive the following from us regarding this vehicle:
- the original first German " vehicle title " with a stamp from the Munich registration office reading "Registered under customs license plate, April 10, 1974"
- The complete original "owner's wallet " with the original "service book ," including the delivery confirmation to the first owner and BMW service stamps up to 120,000 km
- All original Swedish " TÜV" reports, including dates and mileage, from 1974 to 2010
- All original BMW service orders and invoices from 1974 through the late 1980s
- the complete set of keys, including all original keys
- A BMW Classic certificate for the vehicle, stating the production date (October 18, 1973), along with numerous other details and a technical data sheet
- A detailed Classic Data appraisal report by a renowned automotive expert (who oversaw the restoration) with a condition rating of 1-
- the original aluminum trunk lid, which was delivered with the vehicle at the time and is still brand-new, in the car's body color
- According to the first owner, the vehicle was delivered with the multi-piece ALPINA magnesium racing rims shown in the photos; upon request, the buyer can also take delivery of the car with the original 14"-ALPINA wheels (which have also been completely refurbished; see photo)
- The original fender wind deflectors are not installed, but they are included (see photo)
- a current historic vehicle appraisal (H plate)
UPDATE 2024
This BMW 3.0 CSL was the deciding factor in Classic Data’s decision to completely revise its assessment of market value as part of its appraisal. The exclusivity of this CSL in particular—and the fact that very few examples of the E9 series in general have survived the test of time—make the 3.0 CSL a rare collector’s item, to which its motorsports history also contributes.
